Bradford-on-Avon is renowned for its historic character, with traditional stone cottages, elegant townhouses and period properties that reflect centuries of architectural heritage.
Maintaining these buildings requires specialist knowledge, skilled craftsmanship and a considered approach to repairing and preserving their original stonework.
At Corinthian Stone, we provide expert stone restoration, stone cleaning and architectural stonework services for homeowners and property owners in Bradford-on-Avon and across Wiltshire. With more than 20 years of industry experience, our skilled stonemasonry team understands how to work with traditional materials, including Bath Stone and limestone, to restore damaged masonry while respecting the character and integrity of the building.
Whether your property has crumbling stonework, weathered window surrounds, deteriorating mortar joints or a façade that has become darkened by pollution and biological growth, we begin by assessing its condition and identifying the most appropriate solution. Our aim is to preserve as much original material as practical, using sympathetic repair methods and compatible materials wherever possible.
We combine time-honoured stonemasonry techniques with modern technology and specialist equipment to achieve precise, high-quality results. From individual stone repairs and traditional repointing to the restoration of larger façades and architectural details, we approach every project with care, attention and an appreciation of the building’s original design.
Based in Corsham, Corinthian Stone serves Bradford-on-Avon and the surrounding area, including Bearfield, Woolley, Winsley, Limpley Stoke and Westwood.

Natural stone is a beautiful and enduring building material, but even well-constructed masonry can deteriorate over time.
Bath Stone, a fine-grained limestone valued for its attractive creamy honey colour and versatility, is broadly associated with traditional architecture in the wider region. However, its porous nature makes it susceptible to weathering, atmospheric pollution, moisture and biological growth.
For owners of period properties in Bradford-on-Avon, these effects can gradually detract from a building’s appearance and, if deterioration is left unaddressed, compromise the condition of the stone itself.
At Corinthian Stone, we specialise in restoring tired, weathered and damaged masonry using appropriate techniques that respect the original material. Our work includes repairing crumbling or eroded stone, replacing severely deteriorated sections with carefully matched stone, repointing mortar joints and restoring damaged architectural features such as window cills, lintels and surrounds. Where traditional masonry requires repointing, we can use lime mortar to provide a compatible finish suited to the building.
We also provide professional stone cleaning to remove appropriate deposits of dirt, pollution, algae, moss and other biological growth. Using specialist cleaning systems, we select an approach suited to the type of stone, its condition and the nature of the staining. The objective is to improve the appearance of the masonry without unnecessarily damaging its surface or stripping away the character that comes with age.
Importantly, not every discoloured façade needs the same treatment. Some stonework requires cleaning, some needs physical repair, and some benefits from a combination of both. Our assessment-led approach helps establish what is appropriate before work begins.
Whether you have noticed blackened masonry, failed pointing, flaking stone or damaged architectural details, we can help you understand the options.

Traditional stonework contributes much of the architectural character found throughout Bradford-on-Avon, from the detailing of period townhouses to the distinctive features of older cottages and substantial historic properties.
Preserving these details, or recreating them when replacement becomes necessary, calls for a combination of practical stone masonry knowledge, experience and skilled craftsmanship.
Corinthian Stone provides structural and architectural stonework services for private homeowners, heritage organisations and commercial property owners. Our experienced team can undertake projects of varying sizes, from localised repairs to more substantial restoration work, combining traditional stonemasonry skills with modern expertise to deliver carefully finished results.
For period properties, we can repair or replicate damaged and decayed stone features to help maintain the building’s original appearance. Where existing masonry has deteriorated beyond practical repair, we can advise on suitable replacement stone and work to achieve a finish that sits comfortably alongside the surrounding stonework.
Our bespoke architectural stonework service also enables clients to introduce handcrafted natural stone features to new-build projects, extensions and property improvements. Depending on your requirements, we can create and supply features such as window sills, lintels, cornices, copings, arches, porticoes, balustrades, pillars and fireplace surrounds. Each feature can be cut, carved and finished to specification, with expert on-site fixing available.
Bath Stone remains a particularly appealing choice for architectural detailing because of its natural colour, workability and timeless aesthetic. Our specialist knowledge of this material helps us deliver stonework that complements both traditional buildings and carefully designed contemporary properties.
Whether you are planning repairs to a historic façade, replacing deteriorated stonework or commissioning a distinctive architectural feature, we take pride in workmanship that combines accuracy, durability and attention to detail.
