We were asked to survey and provide an estimate for dismantling and rebuilding a chimney stack that served two houses. Upon initial inspection from the ground, it was evident that the bottom Bath stone ashlars had severely deteriorated, leading to the advice that the chimney stack needed to be taken down to the roof. Once closer access was obtained, it was clear that all the drip courses and ashlars required replacement, but most of the red bricks could be salvaged.
We meticulously deconstructed the chimney, reserving the bricks for reconstruction. We ordered new stones and hand-carved new drip courses, which we provided. The chimney was reconstructed to its original size and shape, concluding with the re-bedding of the pots and the re-launching of the Bath stone and red brick chimney rebuild.
